Vietnam’s cultural features and traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival were promoted to overseas Vietnamese and international friends in France at a programme which has been held at the La Carrrière Cultural Centre in Saint Herblain City.
The programme, entitled “The quintessence of Vietnam”, featured various activities that attracted a large number of overseas Vietnamese and French people.
Art performances promoting Vietnamese folk and contemporary music were the most notable activities during the programme. They were directed by musician Hoang Thu Trang, President of Art Space – an association for the development of educational, art and cultural exchange activities for children in France.
The highlight of the programme was an art fest with the participation of nearly 100 Vietnamese French adults and children. The event enchanted audiences thanks to the unique performances featuring Vietnamese culture, including the dances of the Central Highland gongs, traditional fans and non la (conical hats), martial arts and modern folk dance of “Tu phu” (Four Realms of Places).
Visitors had the chance to tuck into plenty of traditional food that features over the Tet Festival, such as nem (spring rolls), gio lua (steamed pork roll), banh chung (square glutinous rice cake), xoi xeo (sticky rice), bun bo (beef noodle), and mut (jam), as well as join in traditional folk games.
According to the organising board, the programme attracated more than 1,500 visitors to the traditional Tet market and over 600 audience members to the art performances
